I’m 36. 5 vaginal births, married 18 years and always had a normal pap. Except this year, pap was normal and I’m HPV 16 positive. (first HPV test ever) I’ve only had sex with two people. One of them cheated and it wasn’t my husband.

I had a Colposcopy with an ECC yesterday. An ECC felt exactly like having my water broken by the ob/gyn. My doctor said that he did see the white area of abnormal cells but it was very small and he didn’t say if it was near the center of my cervix or closer to the outside.

I’m going crazy wondering what degree of Dysplasia it is. Whatever it is, even if it’s just precancerous, my doctor said he’d do the surgery because I have the worst of the two highest types of HPV that cause this. (16 & 18) My tubes were tied so I really don’t care about losing the uterus-actually I’m looking forward to it. No more periods!! But still, this wait is driving me insane!!

How did it turn out? do you need surgery? Will you have your children vaccinated to prevent HPV?

Hello. I am new to this site. I was disgnosed a year ago with Stage IVa cervical cancer. So far my first PET (December 2009) came back great. I had my second PET yesterday and although I don’t know the results yet, I am pretty optimistic that it will be ok. Would like to hear from anyone else diagnosed with Stage IV. Or any other stage for that matter. God Bless

      HI,
I have recently completed treatment for cervical cancer. Mine was Stage 2B which is inoperable as I imagine yours may be?? Or do you know yet? There is always hope. Keep in mind that God has a plan for you. Your outcome has already been decided, the Dr.s are only tools to help carry our his plans for you. My only options were chemo/radiation at the same time which was a little tough but it was never as bad as I had myself prepared for. Please feel fee to chat anytime you want to. I am here to listem anytime. I will be honored to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Just vaccinated my daughter; simple painless and no side effects. Its too bad we cant prevent all cancers this way.

A friend of mine was just diagnosed with eary-stage cervical cancer. She is going in for surgery next week. She is worried that this might affect her ability to have children– does anyone have experience with this?

I have two sons and I’m thinking about getting them vaccinated against HPV. Are there any other parents out there who have looked into vaccinating boys?

I have a 9 year old daughter and we are considering vaccinating for cervical cancer: is this too young?

I think that’s the youngest age at which you can start vaccinating against HPV. The recommended age for routine vaccination of girls is 11-12. The key is to vaccinate before the child becomes sexually active. HPV is a really common sexually transmitted infection.
