Hello, everyone. I’ve not been able to check this site too often lately. I’ve just went back to work and my computer has really been giving me problems. If anyone has any thing you would like to discuss, let’s do IT. I don’t know how many messages regarding new members I may have missed because my email was affected as well. So, if you are new, please feel free to contact me. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Good Morning America! How areya?
I woke up at 0500 or so and laid there till about 0600, put on my thirty-pound ruck, hat, and grabbed my cane, did my 40 minute walk, took a hot shower and now I’m ready to meet you, old world. After a sip of cold coffee and an encounter with my computer my blood pressure was still 131/74, as depicted by my trusty little wrist cuff blood pressure monitor. And folks, that is without any meds. Not too bad for a 62 year old fellow. My average over several measurements is 124/70. That means there are several single measurements of 120 something over 60 something.
I share this with you to show you that we can take back our health. I know many folks younger than I, who are on dangerous blood pressure lowering drugs. I know folks younger than I on dangerous cholesterol lowering drugs. I have a saying: give your body 45 minutes today or give it dangerous drugs tomorrow. A good 45 minute walk does a lot of good for the old body. For one thing, it helps to get it back to a healthy weight; this is the one most crucial thing you can do to both avoid and treat cancer. It thins the blood so that the blood pressure stays in a healthy state. The red blood cells carrying oxygen and nutrients can more easily get through the microscopic capillaries to each of you your cells where they are bathed in oxygen and nutrient rich blood.
A healthy whole plant diet will also help to keep your blood pressure at a healthy point and provide your immune system with those phytochemicals that are so very important in staving off cancer. So, walk to the market; buy the fresh deep green and colorful produce. Wash it and save the cooking time. Eat them raw. However, if you prefer them cooked, don’t add any oils; either boil or steam them. Veggies like broccoli are much healthier for you if you steam them for three minutes. This helps to release the phytochemicals that are so necessary to fight cancer. Eat tons of garlic. Crush it first with the flat side of a kitchen knife. Let it rest for 10 minutes. This releases the compounds that strengthen your immune system. Garlic pills do not count!! If you like to take pills, cut a large clove into slivers and swallow with a glass of water. I do this often. It should be done at least daily.
As all ways, if you have any questions, write me. If you want more information, go to http://www.bentmileshealth.com and click on “healthy living” or “health and exercise”.
May you experience the health you desire.

Remember when the first President Bush said that he didn’t like broccoli? Well, if he had spent a life time eating it and other leafy green vegetables, he likely would not ever have had to have a hip replacement. In addition to being a very good source of calcium, broccoli is also full of phytochemicals [...]

Hi, I was diagnosed with kidney cancer and had the right kidney removed 2-10-10. Waited to get the clear of cancer news, but now I have bladder cancer. Going thru treatment at this time. Has any one been thru this? I had not been sick just a bad back and back pain for a couple years and treated with pain pills. Then I had blood in the urine and they did a ct scan but nothing actually showed up in the kidney, but after them going into the kidney with the cystology test showed a tumor in the kidney. Result was taking the kidney, tube and lymph nodes removed. I guess this happens to others too. Three of six treatments done with three to go. Maybe thids time I will get a clean bill of health so to speak!

Hi, I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in June 2006. I had the original operation and a follow-up just to make sure they got it all. There were two surgeons involved. The surgeon who did the second operation said he was 100% sure they got 100% of it and wanted to treat it with chemo.. [...]

My uncle was recently diagnosed with early stage bladder cancer and intravesical therapy was the only option that his doctors gave him. His doctor indicated that although it can be uncomfortable, it is not long-term. Does anyone have a different experience with this?

Yes! I had early stage and my orginal Doc wanted to put me on the 6 week BCG treatment. I got two more opinions, and the both of those Docs agreed my cancer was early enough stage and small enough to put me on surveillance without BCG. I was first scoped every four months, then every six months, and now annually. I guess the BCG would not have hurt my chances for recurrence but I was relieved I did not have to do it. GET AT LEAST A SECOND OPINION ON BCG!
Sounds wonderful; a second opinion is always a must. Are you just being watched on a regular basis of did you have some surgery to remove the early stage cancer?
